From Eletricity distributor to the pioneer in utilizing bio- and waste fuels

 Kotka Energy Ltd was established in 1993 as a local electricity distributor and national power seller. Ten years later, in 2003, Kotka Energy sold the eletricity network and sales activities. The company is 100 % owned by the city of Kotka.

Today Kotka Energy Ltd is a modern Energy Services Company, which is focused to combined generation of district heat and eletricity utilizing renewable energy sources. Kotka Energy whishes to enchange the comfort, ease and safety of community members by producing quality energy services, by acting as a pioneer in utilizing bio- and waste fuels and by being a desired co-operation partner.

District heat

The district heat network has more than 1 850 customers. Approximately half of the households in Kotka are heated by disctrict heat. Our own district heat generation is based on the combined generation of electricity and heat by using renewable and domestic fuels as peat, cultivated plant and wood. Natural gas is also burned as needed.
